Perseus, in Greek mythology, is the son of Zeus and Danaë. His grandfather, Acrisius, had been warned by an oracle that his grandson would kill him and therefore put Perseus and his mother in a chest and threw it into the sea. It drifted to Seriphus, where they were found by Dictys. Dictys’ kindness and longing for a child made him take Danaë and Perseus under his and his wife’s care. Through time, Danaë and Perseus were not being noticed by Dictys’ brother, King Polydectes. But because of Danaë’s flawless beauty they were soon noticed. After a time Polydectes fell in love with Danaë but was embarrassed by the presence of her full-grown son. Knowing that Danaë was soon to be engaged to Polydectes, Polydectes talked to Perseus about having the Gorgons head as the greatest gift ever he could have in the world. Polydectes threw a party for his engagement to Danaë inviting all the men in his island except for Perseus thus making Perseus feel isolated. Feeling an outcast, Perseus stormed in during a gathering and claimed that he can and will go to the gorgon and behead one of the sisters as a gift to Polydectes. The gods, however, loved Perseus. Hermes gave him a curved sword and winged sandals, Athena a mirrorlike shield, and Hades a helmet that made Perseus invisible. Thus armed, Perseus slew Medusa. On his way home Perseus rescued Andromeda from a sea monster and married her. When he arrived in Seriphus, he found out that Dictys’s wife was killed and Perseus mother, Danaë, and Dictys was soon to be killed by the king because of the kings anger to Danaë for breaking up with him. Danaë and Dictys went to some island to hide. Because of this news, Perseus went to one of Polydectes gathering and killed everyone there turning them into stone using the gorgons head. Then went finding his mother and Dictys, as soon as he found them he then gave the Medusa head to Athena. He went with his mother and his wife to Argos. There, while competing in a discus contest, Perseus accidentally killed his grandfather. Thus the prophecy was fulfilled. Perseus was the father of Electryon, who was the grandfather of Hercules. The famous figure of Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini stands in the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence.

Athlete's Foot (english)
In our full-packed day of activities, students experience different things, pleasant or unpleasant, with regard to our bodies and personal hygiene. We love to move around and play different sports. These activities expose us to germs and bacteria as we perspire and move our bodies in the heat of our tropical country. We should not be ashamed to address these things because it is a part of us being the imperfect beings that were created by God.
One of the imperfections that is being referred to by the writer is the truth about ATHLETE’S FOOT. It is a fungal infection of the skin that causes scaling, flaking, and itch of affected areas. It is caused by fungi in the genus Trichophyton and is typically transmitted in moist areas where people walk barefoot, such as showers or bathhouses.
Athlete's foot causes scaling, flaking, and itching of the affected skin. Blisters and cracked skin may also occur, leading to exposed raw tissue, pain, swelling, and inflammation. Secondary bacterial infection can accompany the fungal infection, sometimes requiring a course of oral antibiotics. Once you have these symptoms, go to your doctor right away. Athlete's foot is a communicable disease caused by a parasitic fungus in the genus Trichophyton, either Trichophyton rubrum or Trichophyton mentagrophytes. It is typically transmitted in moist environments where people walk barefoot, such as showers, bath houses, and locker rooms. It can also be transmitted by sharing footwear with an infected person, or less commonly, by sharing towels with an infected person.
The fungi that cause athlete's foot can live on shower floors, wet towels, and footwear, and can spread from person to person from shared contact with showers, towels, etc.
Hygiene, therefore, plays an important role in managing an athlete's foot infection. Since fungi thrive in moist environments, keeping feet and footwear as dry as possible, and avoiding sharing towels, etc., aids prevention of primary infection.
There are many conventional medications (over-the-counter and prescription) as well as alternative treatments for fungal skin infections, including athlete's foot. Important with any treatment plan is the practice of good hygiene.
Conventional treatment typically involves daily or twice daily application of a topical medication. As previously mentioned, go to your doctor once finding out that you have the above symptoms. But most importantly, always practice good hygiene, not only to have a healthy body but to have a set of HAPPY FEET as well!
Christine Jane Peteros “The Fun girl”
On October 10, 1996, a beautiful baby girl was born giving her the name Christine Jane Peteros. Now she stands as a second year high school student at our school, JCA. As a teenage high school student we face struggles like pear pressure, temptations and competition to get to the top but to this girl she handles it like a piece of cake knowing God and Jesus is always by her side guiding her all throughout her high school life and so on. As a teenager, to some of us, going to school is just a day schedule to complete but to this girl going to school is one thing, she loves not just because she will learn but to enjoy the time she spends learning with her friends and as an ad the school being religious. As a Christian too, all of us have different favorite verses, to her, her favorite verse is Philippians 1:3 saying there ‘I thank my God every time I remember you’ truly this girl is great full for everything she’s got but the question is, who does she remember to thank our God so much? Is it a special boy, a friend or a family member? When she was still a child younger than 5, her dad died, leaving her mother to take care of her and her older sister alone. Maybe it’s her dad that she remembers to thanks God whenever she does. As a teenage high school student, knowing her mom raised her and her older sister alone she strives to do her best in everything for her mom making her mom the reason of her previous and recent success. Now setting aside all of that drama and school stuff, as a teenager we still have to have some fun and sports is one thing to have fun for sure, her favorite sport to do is playing volleyball and swimming. To us teenagers having fun with friends is one thing, to Jane, after school, after all the hard thinking that exhausts her, she hangs with friends before going home then after, when she’s home it’s family time. We may say this girl goes through a lot but one thing is sure that she handles everything organizedly, with fun and with God always at her side.
Noli Me Tangere : reaction paper
Noli Me Tangere
The 'S' word
“The ‘S’ word”
There has been a lot of “awkwardness” when talking about SEX. For me, it is something very personal and sacred. More so talking about it in class. Educating young people’s mind about this sensitive topic has both advantages and disadvantages for me.
Us teenagers would know what to do and expect when the time comes when we will do it already. It will also help us be aware of the important things that we need to know to take care of our own bodies, for hygienic and security purposes. We don’t want to be too ignorant.
The disadvantage I can think right now is that it will further open our curiosity and will make some of us want to learn it more by actually doing it already. Maybe some will try even if they don’t know the consequence.
My stand remains neutral. I honestly don’t know where to side on. I think the most important is that we should know WHEN we will be doing it and with WHOM we will do it with.

I AM MY OWN AUTHOR
Today, I am writing how much I want to be part of JOURN. I do have three, very good reasons behind my decision to be a part of this group. First, among all the electives being offered in school, this is the most adequate and significant to me as a student. Second, joining this group has a long-term benefit to my further studies and when I’m in the work force already. Third, for me, writing is an art of expressing my thoughts and ideas which I love doing.
I am my own AUTHOR.
Among all the electives being offered in school, this is the most adequate and significant to me as a student because writing is one thing we do everyday. Copying what’s written on the board. Making notes for a reviewer, an excuse letter, writing a dedication on a greeting card, writing reports, and all kinds of written work for the people around us. Filling up forms. And even just by writing a single word or letter.
My second reason is, joining this group has a long-term benefit to my further studies and when I’m in the work force already. High school is about preparing the students for college. College prepares the students to the reality of work that will provide a comfortable life for us. And joining this group, Journ, will surely prepare me for it.
For my third reason, for me, writing is an art of expressing my thoughts and ideas. There is no limit to our imagination, so, there is also no limit to writing. For me, writing is so free. It has so much freedom. That’s why it is an art. Writing lets me do and think almost everything. I can do anything, there are so many possibilities and unlimited things to write about. I can’t wait to move and think as I play around with words to put together and write. Writing is such a wonderful part of my life. And it will remain as it is now and in the future.
If I get accepted in Journ, permanently, I hope that I can not only improve my skills as my own personal writer. I also hope that I can also make some contributions to this group. I wish to share what I can to make Journ even better than what it is. I wish to expand the potential of this group in my own, simple way.
